Fall 2016 marks a leap forward for performing arts on campus with the first-ever offering of dance courses for credit.
Two new courses are available for registration this fall – DNCE 121: Beginning Ballet Technique and DNCE 131: Beginning Contemporary Technique.
Theatre coordinator Nicolas Logue said that these new courses are part of a growing plan for performing arts at WCC.
“With the tragic passing of Ron Bright, we all at Palikū Theatre wish deeply to see his inspirational legacy of a strong tradition of musical theatre in Kāne‘ohe carried forward – and hope to offer students a chance to follow in Mr. Bright’s impressive footsteps,” Logue said.
He said that the creation of the dance discipline for the fall semester comes in concert with a new musical theatre workshop course (THEA 296) and hints that other exciting developments are in the wind.
“We’ve strived to offer a competitive level of actor training in performing arts at Windward over the last several years, but we’ve only just begun our work. The future holds many more developments for Palikū Theatre and the music, dance and theatre disciplines here at Windward.”
