WCC’s student-run Pueo Press is throwing a “massive mega multi book launch” on Thursday, May 2 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the ‘Ākoakoa dining room, and all are welcome!
In addition to the Spectral Waves issue of the Pueo Literary and Art Journal, Pueo Press is publishing WCC biology lecturer Michelle Smith’s Science of the Sea: A Hawai‘i-based Perspective of Oceanography. The Press is also publishing Can These Bones Dance, a memoir of spiritual transformation by WCC student Leilani Madison, as well as Hawaiian Art Stories II by WCC student Glenn Freitas, a Hawaiian artist and storyteller.
As Pueo staff members prepare for the party, they are also doing preliminary work for next year’s Boom Kanani! issue of the literary and art journal. WCC faculty, staff and students are encouraged to enter their art and writing for possible publication, with entry forms and boxes located in the bookstore, the library, Mānaleo lobby and outside the Pueo studio in ‘Ākoakoa 236.
